The Kindness Challenge

JOIN THE CHALLENGE HERE!

This is a tough summer for so many people, as we struggle through a global pandemic and against ongoing injustice.  During painful times, social connections are more important than ever, but COVID-19 has forced us apart just when we need each other most.  This means we need to develop new ways to connect, even at a distance.

Thankfully, this is possible!  As I write about in The War for Kindness, empathy is a skill, which you can build the same way you’d strengthen a muscle.  To teach these skills, I’ve developed a series of research-based Kindness Challenges, like exercises at an “empathy gym” you can use to connect better.

Starting on August 10th, I’ll be posting one challenge a day, and invite you to try them out and share your experiences through videos and other posts using the hashtag #KindnessChallenge.  Better yet, invite your friends, family, and colleagues to join!  Think of it as an “ice bucket challenge,” for global empathy.

Empathy is work, but it is work worth doing.  So let’s band together and celebrate human connection at a time when many of us could really use it.

Onward!
